Introducing Bixby Routines

Samsung is adding something very cool called the Bixby routines. It’s touchless, and it studies you, and it actually recommends you a special routine that you do every time.

So how does it work? The moment you enter the car and turn it on and connect to the Bluetooth, it will automatically start counting on your actions.

Driving, it notices it, it launches a navigation, and perhaps if you had it set up, a music player, then a music will come up too.

This is what we call Bixby routines. Basically 3-14 days, it will study your habit, how you interact with your phone, and then, based on those habits, it will recommend you a routine.

For instance, let’s assume that you go to work. Automatically, once you arrive to work, the sound mode will go to mute, and Wi-Fi will be turned on to connect to your Wi-Fi intranet for your workplaces.

Such as this, if you do something continuously over time, this will study your habit and recommend you do a setup for a routine. And, once you set it up, you don’t have to activate it yourself.

It will automatically not suggest, it will automatically turn it on for you. So that summarize the whole concept of intelligence.

And last but not least Bixby routines, will recommend a very unique routines customized for your own needs.

Samsung Industry’s First 1TB Embedded Universal Flash Storage

Samsung Electronics, the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced that it has begun mass producing the industry’s first one-terabyte (TB) embedded Universal Flash Storage (eUFS) 2.1, for use in next-generation mobile applications. Just four years after introducing the first UFS solution, the 128-gigabyte (GB) eUFS, Samsung has passed the much-anticipated terabyte threshold in smartphone storage. Smartphone enthusiasts will soon be able to enjoy storage capacity comparable to a premium notebook PC, without having to pair their phones with additional memory cards.

“The 1TB eUFS is expected to play a critical role in bringing a more notebook-like user experience to the next generation of mobile devices,” said Cheol Choi, executive vice president of Memory Sales & Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “What’s more, Samsung is committed to assuring the most reliable supply chain and adequate production quantities to support the timely launches of upcoming flagship smartphones in accelerating growth of the global mobile market.”

Within the same package size (11.5mm x 13.0mm), the 1TB eUFS solution doubles the capacity of the previous 512GB version by combining 16 stacked layers of Samsung’s most advanced 512-gigabit (Gb) V-NAND flash memory and a newly developed proprietary controller. Smartphone users will now be able to store 260 10-minute videos in 4K UHD (3840×2160) format, whereas the 64GB eUFS widely used in many current high-end smartphones is capable of storing 13 videos of the same size.

The 1TB eUFS also possesses exceptional speed, allowing users to transfer large amounts of multimedia content in significantly reduced time. At up to 1,000 megabytes per second (MB/s), the new eUFS features approximately twice the sequential read speed of a typical 2.5-inch SATA solid state drive (SSD). This means that 5GB-sized full HD videos can be offloaded to an NVMe SSD in as fast as five seconds, which is 10 times the speed of a typical microSD card. Furthermore, the random read speed has increased by up to 38 percent over the 512GB version, clocking in at up to 58,000 IOPS. Random writes are 500 times faster than a high-performance microSD card (100 IOPS), coming in at up to 50,000 IOPS. The random speeds allow for high-speed continuous shooting at 960 frames per second and will enable smartphone users to take full advantage of the multi-camera capabilities in today and tomorrow’s flagship models.

Samsung plans to expand the production of its fifth-generation 512Gb V-NAND at its Pyeongtaek plant in Korea throughout the first half of 2019 to fully address the anticipated strong demand for the 1TB eUFS from mobile device manufacturers around the world.

one UI is here for galaxy note9

Multiple phones show how One UI screens change the Galaxy interface to make it easier for users to focus. The One UI home screen with colorful icons. The One UI phone keypad, photo gallery, calculator, and calendar applications onscreen. Samsung Notes, Night Mode, email inbox, and search function applications onscreen.
Galaxy Note9 users in Malaysia take note, the latest firmware update for your device is now available for download. The update is a big deal because it brings with it Samsung’s all-new One UI interface along with Android 9 Pie to the Galaxy Note 9.

Once you update your Galaxy Note 9 to the stable Android Pie update, which is about 1.6GB in size, you will instantly notice a redesign UI. Some of the app icons get a makeover and look really fresh if you have been growing tired of the old icons. They look more colourful now, including the icons in the Settings menu.

Since One UI is based on Android Pie, the quick setting panel now shows blue-coloured buttons. But what I probably love the most is the system-wide Dark mode which I enabled instantly in Settings > Display > Night Mode. Dark mode nicely turns the background in most Samsung apps totally black, which not only comforts the eyes but also helps conserve battery life as well. Eventually, Samsung will allow you to configure Dark mode to switch on automatically at night.
Woman’s left hand holds a phone and naturally interacts with the One UI messaging application using just her thumb.

The One UI interface is being developed for the upcoming Galaxy S series of devices and Samsung is making the new experience available for Note 9 users as well as to other Samsung devices as part of the Android 9 Pie update, this includes the Note 8, Galaxy S8, Note FE and Galaxy A8, among others.

As I mentioned, One UI is designed to make it easy to use a large device with one hand by pushing content that you use within reach. The idea is pretty simple and makes so much sense - look at the top half and interact with the bottom half. This new design can be seen on all Samsung apps and even in the quick settings panel. Swipe down the panel twice and all the quick setting buttons will drop to the bottom half of the display.

The moment you open the Settings menu, for example, you will notice the top half blank with just the word "Setting" plastered in a large font. Sure, you're left with a lot of blank space, but that's really okay. In fact it makes it look cleaner and less cluttered. The bottom half is where the actual options are so you can easily reach them without having to use both your hands.

In addition to One UI, the Android Pie update brings a few other goodies as well like Adaptive Battery which is a feature that learns your usage patterns and adapts the device’s power usage and battery management accordingly. One UI also comes with the option to set a systems-wide night mode where the background and most design elements of the interface is presented in a dark colour to further save battery.

Galaxy M20, A budget phone that packs a punch

Samsung will be introducing an online exclusive budget mobile device. This smartphone packs a punch in battery size which sits at 5,000mAh.

Featuring with the infinity-V which most people would come to know as the teardrop notch with 6.3"-inch FHD+ Display that houses an 8MP selfie sensor in it.

This device also supports Type-C charging port and the staple 3.5mm headphone jack. It also sports with a dual rear camera with a 13MP & 5MP wide-angle lens.

The Galaxy M20 comes with Samsung's home-grown Exynos 7904 processor. The phone handled everyday tasks with ease. Multitasking such as browsing Netflix, videos and music was smooth too.

Galaxy M20 is a fair attempt by Samsung to offer decent internals and bigger screen real estate in a budget. Those looking for a reliable brand to invest in should consider buying the M20. The online exclusive price will only be going at RM799 and the official launch date would be around early to mid-March 2019

Samsung video featuring foldable phone

It seems that is a slight tease on the full brand video from Samsung which shows a short glimpse of our future, foldable phones are back.

It shows a device open from a closed position. Device bezel also looks pretty thin. In addition to showing the ability to open, Will it be officially announced during unpacked? Only time will tell...

What does the future hold? Back in the 1950s, Doris Day answered that question with a simple lyric: “Que será, será, whatever will be, will be.” Her cheerful brand of fatalism encouraged a generation to let go of their worries and let the future unfold as it may. As the world now enters a new era of uncertainty, Samsung refuses to accept those laissez-faire lyrics with a promise to empower people to create their own future.

In the spirit of this approach, Samsung is launching its own brand campaign to kick off a year that will both celebrate the 10th anniversary of Galaxy smartphones and set the foundation for the next decade of new, innovative and groundbreaking products.

The campaign flips the carefree lyrics of the classic song on its head by juxtaposing them with Samsung’s bold leadership stance: What we create today empowers you to create the future. The campaign builds on Samsung’s “Do What You Can’t” philosophy in a video that highlights potential breakthrough technologies – including seamless multi-device experiences, artificial intelligence, and radical new displays – and teases Samsung’s 5G products and foldable display technology to be launched later this year.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, fashion designer or mobile gamer, Samsung is blazing the trail for change by bringing innovation to a wide variety of industries. Check out the video below to see how Samsung is reshaping the future for its users.

Samsung Next Galaxy: New Images, Blockchain Keystore for Bitcoin and Co.

Does anyone remember Bitcoin, Ethereum and Co.? Crypto Currencies, which 2018 many threw their money outright, which was burned prominently in the crash of Blockchain from the hype cycle. A theme that dominated in 2017 and 2018, but is now more of a norm.
HTC brought a special blockchain edition of a flagship and now Samsung will soon bring the next Galaxy flagship with a special application for the cryptocurrency.
That such a special edition of the mobile device or at least a special application comes for it - as a gift. But the pictures on which this is to be seen, are exciting. Here you can see the device in action - with a simple front camera, without another sensor for a 3D face recognition.

On the side note, the camera hole is remarkably large, the frame is relatively narrow and the photo as it should be for a leak is taken with a potato camera.
